Apply Herein for the Inaugural Extreme Halloween Dessert Art Competition at the Halloween Harvest Costume Ball.

The Inaugural Extreme Halloween Dessert Art Competition is being held at the 2018 Halloween Harvest Costume Ball on Friday night October 26, 2018 and is a charity benefit with a portion of the proceeds supporting the American Association of University Women (AAUW). The AAUW officially founded in 1881, is a non-profit organization that advances equality for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. Monies donated from the 2018 event will support our local Atascadero AAUW chapter scholarship fund, which directly serves girls and women in San Luis Obispo’s North County.

ABOUT FRIDAY NIGHT’S EXTREME HALLOWEEN DESSERT ART COMPETITION:

Contestants chosen will compete against one another to create a bite-sized Halloween inspired sweet treat along with an epic table display that will be served to Friday night’s costume ball attendees.

Upon arrival, each guest will be given a booklet with a map of the event, list of the various activities and experiences, information about the costume contest, a list of event sponsors, a food competition ballot and a full page featuring each food art competitor highlighting their business and culinary concoction. Chefs will be highlighted on the event website well in advance of the event as well as promoted on social media.

As determined by attendees’ ballots submitted, there will be a first, second and third place People’s Choice winner in each of these three categories:

  • Most Tasty Sweet Treat
  • Most Creative Concoction
  • Most Spooktacular Table Presentation

Each contestant will need to provide a six-foot table and will have limited use of the facility’s kitchen. Please bring items already prepared for service as well as ready to offer:

  • Bite-sized samples to accommodate approximately 500 guests (as we get closer to the event we will refine that estimate based on ticket sales).
  • A Halloween themed table display/presentation.
  • Staff for set up, management of the service table throughout the entire event and breakdown.

Participation will be limited and applicants are encouraged to include photographs and/or website links of past work as well as inspiration images of ideas for their competition entry.

EVENT LOGISTICS:
Friday Set Up is from 2pm-5pm.

Table display must be complete by 6pm with service beginning at 7pm.

The event runs from 7pm-midnight and with table breakdown from 11pm to midnight.

This event is costume mandatory! Contestants must be in costume by 6:30pm Friday night.

CONTESTANT PROMOTION:
